Mercedes-Benz AG is responsible for the global business of Mercedes-Benz Cars and Mercedes-Benz Vans with 175,000 employees worldwide. Ola Källenius is Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz AG. The company focuses on the development, production and sales of passenger cars, vans and services. Furthermore, the company aspires to be leading in the fields of connectivity, autonomous driving and alternative drives with its forward-looking innovations. The product portfolio comprises the Mercedes-Benz brand with the sub-brands Mercedes-AMG, Mercedes-Maybach and Mercedes me – as well as the smart brand, and the EQ product and technology brand for electric mobility.
Mercedes-Benz AG is one of the largest manufacturers of premium passenger cars. In 2018, it sold more than 2.3 million cars and over 420,000 vans. In its two business divisions, Mercedes-Benz AG is continually expanding its worldwide production network with over 40 production sites on four continents, while aligning itself to meet the requirements of electric mobility. At the same time, the company is developing its global battery production network on three continents. Sustainable actions play a decisive role in both business divisions.

Our business divisions

The Mercedes-Benz Cars range covers every passenger car segment: from the urban microcar by smart, to the premium and luxury vehicles by Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-Maybach, to the performance and sports cars by Mercedes-AMG. In this way, the Cars division of Mercedes-Benz AG ensures individual mobility for a vast spectrum of customer needs. The company has set itself the goal of developing the world’s safest and most efficient cars. With the technology brand EQ, Mercedes-Benz Cars is driving forward the systematic development of alternative drives: the aim is to electrify the entire portfolio by 2022.
The company will offer a range of electrified models in each segment, including 48-volt models, a wide choice of plug-in hybrids, and all-electric vehicles with battery and/or fuel cell. Mercedes-Benz Cars broke its sales record in 2018, selling 2,382,791 vehicles. Mercedes-Benz recorded the highest unit sales of any premium brand in the automotive industry for the third time in succession.

Mercedes-Benz Vans.
Mercedes-Benz Vans is a global full-line supplier of vans and related services – from the small Citan van with a permissible GVW of 1.8 tonnes to the large Sprinter van with a permissible GVW of up to 5 tonnes. In the commercial segment, the product range includes the large Sprinter van, the mid-size Vito van (“Metris” in the USA), and also the Citan urban delivery van. In the private segment, Mercedes-Benz Vans is represented by the V-Class MPV, the Marco Polo recreational and camper vans, and since 2017 by the X-Class in the mid-size pickup segment.
With the eVito, the eSprinter and the EQV all-electric premium MPV unveiled in summer 2019, the van segment underlines how it is driving forward the development of alternative drives. Mercedes-Benz Vans broke its sales record in 2018, selling 421,401 vehicles.

As part of the new corporate structure of the Daimler AG holding company, the Mercedes-Benz Cars and Mercedes-Benz Vans divisions were consolidated under Mercedes-Benz AG on November 1, 2019. Dr. Manfred Bischoff was elected as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Mercedes-Benz AG. The Supervisory Board appointed Ola Källenius as Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz AG. Ola Källenius is also Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG.
